Cookies

This page is separate from privacy on purpose — cookie and local-storage use specifically, laid out plainly enough to skim, since that's what most ad networks and privacy regulations expect to find in one place.

What we use today

Nothing on this site sets a tracking cookie yet. What it does use is your browser's local storage — technically not a cookie, but covered by the same consent rules, so it's listed here:

• Your cookie/consent choice — so the banner doesn't ask twice.

That's strictly necessary / functional in the standard cookie-category sense: the site works the same without it, it just makes it remember your choice between visits. Voting on a joke's rating needs an account (see privacy for what that involves) — that's account data, not a cookie, so it's covered there rather than here.

What gets added once live features ship

• Analytics cookies — aggregated, to see which pages and jokes get used, not to identify you individually.
• Advertising cookies — set by our ad partner (Google AdSense, once that account is live) to serve and measure ads, and personalise them if you've consented. Google's own explanation of how it uses this data is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Both categories stay off by default for EEA, UK and Switzerland visitors until you actively accept via the consent banner, per the Google-certified consent flow described in our portfolio conventions.

Your controls

• The consent banner's "Manage" option, any time it's shown.
• Your browser settings — clearing local storage / cookies for this site resets everything above immediately.
• Once personalised ads are live, Google's own opt-out sits at adssettings.google.com.
